What’s old is new again in Lake Dallas, a charming community on the shores of Lake Lewisville ten miles south of Denton in southeastern Denton County. The ability to span the waters of Lake Lewisville is bringing renewed attention in Lake Dallas from developers, business owners and residents alike. Much of the land leading up to the Lake Dallas side of the bridge has prime development potential for retail and commercial venture and will be just minutes from I-35E.
Plans for the revitalized downtown include Market Street Square with a new urban zoning classification calling for live/work commercial/residential spaces —a concept already proven successful in Lake Dallas’ 1908 Woodman of the World building which houses the community newspaper on the first floor and residential lofts above. Lake Dallas’ traditional home neighborhoods have enjoyed rejuvenation and value increases, and new home developments have also been established. Residents are served the Lake Dallas Independent School District which recently celebrated the naming of Lake Dallas High School among the 2014 “Best High Schools” in the U.S. list published by U.S. News & World Report.
