"Back in the eighties, Houston Stanley developed and then worked as Property Manager for Resort Hotels, Inc. As an architect, I worked on a few of their projects including the Casa del Cortez Hotel/Condo on Mustang Island, Texas. Shortly thereafter the real estate market dropped out in Texas creating massive reductions in appraised values as well as Savings & Loans going under. Nevertheless, Houston handled the management of the Casa del Hotel/Condo with conviction and gave the owners a sense of stability. Guests and owners alike continued to enjoy the amenities to which they were accustomed. I was amazed at his devotion, creating ways to sell the units as well as managing the property. He was relentless in his determination to keep Resort hotels going in the midst of very difficult circumstances. I was impressed that he didn’t abandon the property to relocate where the economy was more favorable. Rather he was dedicated and stayed with them throughout the real estate crisis in Texas. He created an Interval membership program called Club Riviera which was very successful. We’ve continued to work together to this day on projects.
