Summer is here there are a lot of boating and wave runner accidents in the neighboring lakes that could be avoided. This past week end I was at my lake house floating in the lake off our dock I was 2 feet from the dock and almost got hit by a wave runner. The wave runner was way to close to the dock and he had flipped it over. The coast guard happened to be near and came by to see if the driver was ok and told him to be more careful and the law about being 100 ft away from docks boats etc. We then had a long conversation about how a lot of the accidents could be avoided. Most wave runner accidents happen because of people not knowing boating laws and etiquette. To many people let novices drive the vehicles and they think ok just hit the gas and go. Too many times they end up cutting off other boaters without realizing what they are doing. They are doing 360's and wave jumping in there own little world having the time of there lives not realizing it could be the last time of there life. I don't know how many times over the years I have been cut off by other boaters and they had no clue because of my awareness an accident was avoided. If you are a wave runner owner or boat owner and you let other people drive your vehicles tell them the laws and boating safety it could just save their life or some one else. It is so sad to see a loss of live that could be avoided by being careful.
