Last week the Collin County Association of Realtors (CCAR) released housing statistics for May 2016. While there are a few slight decreases in some numbers overall the housing market continues to be strong in Collin County:
New Listings took a slight dip of -2.7% to 1,913 in May 2016 compared to 1,966 in May 2015
Closed Sales Reported for May 2016 was 1,467, also down a slight -0.7% from May 2015’s 1,477
Average Sales Price rose 3.7% to $345,681 in May 2016 compared to $333,447 in May 2015
Median Sales Price rose 7.2% to $309,900 in May 2016 compared to $289,000 in May 2015
Percent of Original List Price Received was 99.2% in May 2016 compared to 99.8% in May 2015
Days on Market Until Sale dropped 2 days from 31 days in May 2015 to 29 days in May 2016
There are all kinds of contributing factors to the healthy housing market. The number of companies moving in is creating a shortage in inventory and low mortgage rates are two of the major reasons. The market should continue to be healthy as long as these factors are viable and barring any unforeseen catastrophic circumstances or crises.
While we’re talking about positive news and indicators…congratulations and kudos go to 3 Collin County cities: Frisco (partially located in Collin and Denton Counties), McKinney and Plano all made the list of The Top 10 Most Successful Cities in America.
