Last season for the Mavericks wasn’t their best by any means. Going 41-41 they finished 10th place in the West and missed the playoffs for the first time in the last 12 years. Today, the Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban, was on ESPN Dallas 103.3 saying that he has a two year plan to get the team back to a top seed in the West and a team that can compete for another championship. Cuban also said that the organization will be going full force at the free agent market this offseason. A couple of names he mentioned were Chris Paul and Dwight Howard.
In this year’s NBA Draft the Mavericks have the 13th overall pick. There will be many great players available at that position for the Mavericks to add to their team. However, with the teams free agency plans, Cuban has hinted at the idea of maybe moving out of that pick to create more salary cap room for big name free agents.
Cuban believes he can turn his team around to be a top 3 or 4 seed in the West with his two year plan. That would be a big turn around from the 2012-2013 season.
