When I was a kid, I watched my father do what a father does. He woke up early and went to work M-F. When I was lucky I would wake up early enough to eat breakfast with him before he left. That was always special to me because I have 3 brothers and that was MY time with him. Anyways Dad would go to work, come home and basically save us. Mom would have us working doing chores all day and when Dad got home we would bolt to him and attack him with hugs. Then we would bolt out the front door with permission from him to play with our friends. Fond memories my youth and I try to see me through the eyes of my children. I feel them watching me all the time and I forget they are watching me all the same. So I wonder what they think. My second son told me he ranks me 8 out of 10 and my daughter the same. Not bad I guess, they would be running the place if I was a perfect 10 I'm sure. As I talk to my 3 children, most of their reflections are tied to there age and the 2 homes we have lived in. The first was a starter home of 1476 sq ft and our second home is 3765 sq ft. They love both homes but that first home has all the great young memories of their very early childhood. I treasure all the memories as well. The joy of fatherhood is to watch them mature and guide them along the way. Nevertheless both homes are significant to them. It represents stability and protection, just as my father provided.
