Congratulations are in order for Grayson College South
Campus in Van Alstyne. A ribbon cutting
ceremony today celebrated the opening of a new 18,000 square foot Technical
Center…and just in time for Spring 2014 classes. An example of one of the beautiful new state
of the art classrooms is pictured at left.
The following information was provided by Grayson College on a flyer at
today’s ceremony: The new Center will
provide classroom and laboratory space for four programs that are needed to
support in-demand workplace skills. The
addition of these technical courses compliments the traditional transfer
academic courses, dual credit offerings for nearby high schools and Vocational
Nursing program already available at that campus location. The Technical
Center allows GC to start two new training options for the community. A new program in Electrical Technology will
provide skills for students entering the residential, commercial, industrial
and new construction industries, and new course offerings in Occupational
Safety and Health will help students begin training for this growing career
field. The new space
allows for the expansion of the College’s Welding Technology program. The Main Campus Welding Program in Denison,
Texas, is at capacity and area employers are anticipating a continued demand
for skilled welders. The expansion of
the Welding Program to the South Campus will enable Grayson College to offset
that demand. And, GC will
re-locate its current Medical Laboratory Technology program to the new
facility. The pre-requisite and
co-requisite courses are already offered at the South Campus, which will allow
GC to maximize enrollment capacity in those courses. A side benefit of the relocation is the
synergy created by having two allied health programs in close proximity. GC President Dr.
Jeremy McMillen is excited about the opportunity these programs will give the
area citizens. He stated, “The addition
of this facility has already had a positive impact on our area’s economy. And, now that a broader variety of employment
training and academic preparation is more accessible for the citizens of our
region, the communities will benefit for many years, too.” Kudos, congratulations and thanks to Grayson College for
their foresight, commitment and investment in the people, the businesses and the
future for the area.

"I am a first time home buyer and Michele was awesome from the very beginning. She called and took down exactly what I wanted, and sent me about 40 listings that fit my description within a couple of hours. She had viewings scheduled immediately after I sent her my list of favorites. She was very accommodating on the viewing schedule and worked around my availability. I found the house I wanted during the first set of showings. Michele had the contract ready later that evening and had everything sent to the realtor that same day. She is an excellent negotiator and got me an incredible price on my home. She is fun to work with and very personable. Even though this was my first time buying, she made it very easy for me to understand the process and what all I needed to do. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a new home."
