Since its inception the City of Allen, it has been a pass-through town. In the 1800s Allen was a depot on the Dallas to Denison route. Much later, in the 1960’s, the construction of US 75 connected commuters as well. But Allen is no long a pass through, it’s the DESTINATION.
Following the “build it and they will come” motto, the city of Allen is thriving with shopping, dining, entertainment, culture, activities and sports. Not to be out-done by the Frisco Square and Pizza Hut Park or minor league baseball, Allen has got the sports and the culture handled. If you live in Allen, there is no reason to go anywhere else. The Allen Event Center hosts a variety of concerts, ice shows not to mention it is the home of the IHL Allen Americans Hockey Team and now you can catch T.O. playing with the IFL Allen Wranglers. You will still be able to afford popcorn at this game with tickets between $15-$60. February 25, 2012 will kick off their second season, don’t miss it.
If ice shows, hockey and football are not your thing, perhaps I can interest you in the cultural events with the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphony Chorus, The Allen Civic Ballet and the Allen Heritage Guild.
Still not your thing? How about the fact that you have access to almost every activity under the sun, all in the city of Allen. There is no way for me to present you with an exhaustive list, so here are a few things that jump out at me: skate park, bmx course, ice skating, the coolest driving range ever, trampolines and bounce houses, spray parks, playgrounds, indoor and outdoor swimming, baseball diamonds, golf courses, volleyball, tennis, world famous gymnastics, soccer, wake boarding and even a Cabela’s to help with all of your hunting, fishing and camping needs.
So, as if the fact that Allen has amazing schools, affordable housing, culture, sports, and plenty of activities wasn’t enough to make you want to check it out . Consider this, with the fairly recent additions of the Watters Creek center, the Shops of Fairview and the Shops of Allen, you can now enjoy fantastic shopping destinations. Major retailers like Target, Macy’s, Dillard’s, Container Store, Vera Bradley, Victoria’s Secret and many more make running into these open areas hassle free and completely bypassing the madness of the mall.
But the one thing that might be my favorite fun fact about Allen…the amazing dining. Restaurants that used to require a drive to Dallas can now be found within a 10 mile radius. In fact, it is possible to pick a new restaurant every Saturday night for an entire year. So if you are adventurous give it a try.
If you are thinking about moving or just want to check out a new Texas city, Allen does not disappoint.

"Shannon & Howard were extremely patient as we searched for a new home. They listened and guided us through the process. we ended up with a home 600 sqft bigger than we thought we could afford. This was supposed to be a 5-10 year home, but because of their excellent help, we are in our dream home at our dream price "
