Perhaps you've heard the reports of some pretty exciting news for North Dallas: Valley View Center is about to get a major facelift. The 39 year old mall had been listed on the May 1 foreclosure auction but according to the Dallas Business Journal, Beck Ventures purchased the property from Miami based LNR partners. The title to the Dallas Morning News article on the subject foreshadows good things in store (no pun intended), Beck Ventures has big plans for Dallas' Valley View Center mall.
What do those big plans include? A visionary strategy that is actually much more than just a facelift. In addition to retail and restaurants you can add a high-rise hotel, office towers and residential properties to the list. The $2 billion mixed-used development will be called Dallas Midtown. The Dallas Business Journal reports that Beck Ventures has hired the master architect of the Shops at Legacy, Michael Twitchell, to help create this new destination.
If you're not familiar with Beck Ventures, here's an excerpt from their website:
“Our family has proudly called Dallas home for the past 40 years. Jeffrey Beck founded Beck Properties in 1972 and now works side by side with his sons Scott and Jarrod as part of Beck Ventures. Our family values its deep roots in Dallas and is committed to invest, fund and create developments and companies that will have a transformational impact for generations to come. With the recent acquisition of Valley View Center, our family is excited about the opportunity to transform the neighborhood shopping center. As Valley View approaches its 40th birthday, we are looking forward to defining the impact the property will make in the next 40 years.”
So here’s to Beck Ventures and Dallas Midtown. I’m looking forward to watching the vision unfold and visiting this new Dallas Midtown destination.
