Happy New Year! If you purchased a home in 2013 or have never
filed for a Texas Homestead Exemption now is the time to take advantage of your
Texas Homestead Exemption. This
exemption must be filed between January 1st and April 30th. Other documentation that must be submitted
with the Homestead Exemption application is a current copy of the owners’ Texas
Your Texas Homestead Exemption is filed with the appraisal
district for the county where your home is located.

And Just for Fun…if you’re
wondering what’s up with that photo above: many thanks to the homeowners along Hwy 287 who
during the hot Texas summers would position this vintage convertible in their
driveway along with two mannequins sporting bikinis. Around Christmastime Santa would replace the mannequins. Evidently
the property has sold because the convertible (or Santa or the mannequins)
haven’t made an appearance in several years but it was a fun landmark to watch
for during many long road trips home to the Panhandle. Gotta love it…Texans are wonderful!
